Update on Water Quality Assessment at Chino Valley Unified School - TopicsExpress

Update on Water Quality Assessment at Chino Valley Unified School District April 8, 2014 During Spring Break, the District’s plumbing contractor replaced approximately 160 plumbing fixtures, faucets and or drinking fountain bubblers Districtwide in the remaining problem areas per the recommendation of the District’s environmental consultant to address the lead issues which became known this past December. The new fixtures are NSF 61 certified as lead free. Although there is one final round of testing to be completed (it’s in process as this time), per the District’s consultant and the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health, all water restrictions can be removed as long as the following guideline is adhered to (until final test results confirm 100% clearance). • All drinking water fountains, faucets etc. be flushed for 30 seconds to 1 minute each day before school starts to eliminate any lead or copper accumulation in the plumbing system while the water stood stagnant the night before. Once the final clearance has been obtained, schools will be notified. Additionally, if any sites still have bottled water on hand, schools may use it for site activities, emergency preparedness, etc.
