*** Update on my Mom *** Today has been a day we have dreaded for some time now. The past few weeks have included multiple ups and downs regarding improvement. A few weeks ago, she was moved to Lifecare where we were hoping to begin rehab. While there, she became sick and developed problems and was moved to the ICU. She remained in a stable and supported environment where she was receiving treatment for an infection, water on and in her lungs and other problems that had arisen over the past few weeks. Beginning almost a week ago, my Moms health started to decline. She became less and less alert, non-responsive and slept constantly. They had to put a feeding tube in to give her some nutrients and energy to help her fight infections and improve. Her status worsened and she became sicker as the days went on. She was very weak and could barely talk when she was awake. Last night around 9:30, she stopped breathing and emergency CPR had to be performed. They had to shock her heart to get the rhythm back to normal. She was intubated and remains on a breathing machine. She is in critical condition and the doctors believe there is nothing they can do at this point but to keep her comfortable. I was blessed by God to have the chance to talk to her back in November like old times. It was a nice 2 weeks that I never thought I would get with her. Now we have to discuss with the doctor at Lifecare about how to make her comfortable and where we go from here. Please keep my family in your prayers as we go through this incredibly difficult time. I thank all of you that have supported my family over this time. You have comforted us more than you will know. The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. - Psalm 9:9-10 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39
