Update on my earlier posts today. It pays to threaten to cancel - TopicsExpress

Update on my earlier posts today. It pays to threaten to cancel your Comcast service if youve been a loyal paying customer for over a year. I was able to continue existing service for an additional $15 a month cheaper, going back to the promotional rates that I originally signed up for. And I did it without signing some type of contract, so I can try to lower my bill again even further in a few months by threatening to cancel if they dont meet the competitors promotions. I did learn that it is true that there are only certain prices they can meet at specific times of the year. Comcast goes through promotions quarterly and bi-annually, so if you dont get the ultimate goal you want, try again in a few months. Tips for lowering your bill: 1. Know the competition. Be able to specifically tell the Comcast rep what the competitor is offering, and how much money you would save if you switched. 2. Be polite. Far too often, we get ticked off an unleash fury on a poor rep whos just trying to do their job, even if the company they work for is full of hacks. Youll probably get further if youre still firm, but polite as well, rather than just yelling from the start. I was honest and told them my wife and I are looking to save money every way we can, so we can pay off student loans faster, and if we can get a significantly better deal elsewhere, we will go ahead and do just that. 3. Let them make the first move. Dont start off asking for them to simply cut your bill. Say youre going to cancel first, and let them try to come up with a solution to keep you. They would rather get some of your money than none of your money, and if they think youre serious about canceling, (which I actually was and still may be in the coming months), theyre much more likely to try and work something out with you. 4. Never be late for a payment. Theyll be much more likely to work with you if youve been a good customer. 5. It doesnt hurt to give it a shot! I hadnt thought of trying to lower my bill this way before, but it will end up saving me about $200 a year. Any savings is better than no savings!
