Update on the Charter School at Mills High School There was overwhelming Mills parent support and even a handful of fearless students at the SMUHSD Board meeting last Thursday 5/8. Thank you to all the speakers and students that came and spoke against the co-location of the Charter School. The PTO interests are always for the well-being of our students. After the SMUHSD Board meeting, the Board set up a Joint Task Force of Mills Administration, Mills PTO Parents and Design Tech representatives to work towards a mutually acceptable resolution to parent and student concerns about co-location. The PTO’s goal is to find Design Tech another location for this coming Fall for the start of the 2014/2015 school year. The PTO will ask that the Co-location of the Charter School be placed on the May 22 SMUHSD Board Agenda to discuss follow up issues regarding the Charter School and concerns regarding co-location. We will update you next week if we are on the agenda. Please continue to write to the SMUHSD Board about your concerns regarding the charter school coming to Mills.
