Update to the post below: The lawyer I spoke with regarding my case wants pictures of our work in the community to present during the trial, and this will be a wonderful opportunity for people to see exactly what were doing here around the lake. I would like to see more municipalities copy what were doing. There has never been a time in my life where I have been more nervous, yet sure of myself at the same time. They are some strangely conflicting sentiments. I visited a lawyer today, and he will be charging a lot more money than I expected. He also said that due to the nature of the accusation against me (attempted murder), it is possible that on August 28th it could be found necessary to hold me in jail during the trial. I have witnesses for the event in question and respected members of the community who will attest to the work Ive been doing here. Yes, I beat a guy up a little bit, but was not anywhere close to killing him, and what hed been doing to multiple animals was far worse than anything dealt to him. The biggest crimes taking place down here are those against the environment, with sewage and graywater pouring into this beautiful lake everyday, and ignorance that would condone people openly committing violence against defenseless animals. Its a harsh life, where necessity drives people to steal from each other, and pick on the weak as a past-time. This is the very reason why Ive felt compelled to involved myself in the work Im currently doing. I dont want to see a world like this and I strongly believe it can be remedied and made a little more fair, just, kind and peaceful. I will work in every way possible to ensure that quality of life down here is improved. This is my lifes mission, and even when I come back to Texas next year, I will be saving up to come back down here, and arranging work visas for people in Guatemala to work with Fincas Buenas in Texas, so they can toil for a few months in the U.S. legally and head back to their families with enough money to construct safe and dry homes, connect toilets and showers, have relatively easier lives which enable them to save up money and send their children to school. The indigenous Mayan population of Guatemala needs educated people to serve as their future leaders, so they may pull themselves out of a spiral of poverty, ignorance and corruption that a centuries-old European conquest caused them to fall into. Their books were destroyed, crop I am sorry this has happened, but I must respect the legal process of the country in which I am a guest. Thanks for reading.
