Updates 01/23/2014 by Vincent and NeSmith Families and Friends Today Derek spent the day getting to know the staff at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Their staff is incredible and very supportive. Today we met our Child Life specialist Ashley and her positive and uplifting spirit will warm the heart of any child. The rehab team all met Derek and said he is fantastic and they are ready to assist in any way possible. It was a long day and Derek spent a good amount of time being entertained by the generous staff and Nickelodeon by way of a loaner iPad - who knew technology would come in handy in such a kid friendly entertainment way! Tomorrow Derek will have a Radiation Simulation to find out exactly where and how much radiation will be administered during the beginning of his treatment. On Monday they will put the port in and on Wednesday....our adventure begins! Thank you for all of your encouragement, love, prayers, positivity and support.
