Meanwhile, a network of activists is lobbying the United Nations to pass a resolution that would bring international experts who are independent of the nuclear industry to guide the process. TEPCO is determined to remove the bent and twisted fuel rods from the roof top pool on damaged building 4 without supervision from the outside world. Many experts are warning of the dire consequences if something goes wrong. In general, they agree that the rods must be removed before another huge earthquake topples the building and spills all the water out of the pool.
