Upon visiting the Technological Center at Moraine Valley Community College yesterday, has inspired me to return to school and pursue my Bachelors Degree. However, I plan on changing my major from business to information technology. If all goes well, I should be able to obtain my degree within the course of a year. Meanwhile, I will be able to obtain various certifications in the process, that will qualify me for better paying jobs. Dont get me wrong, my top priority is to still be a writer, but it is always good to have a backup plan and for me working as an unskilled laborer for individuals like those at the Volvo Parts Distribution in Joliet, is not going to cut it. I know there are some people in my family who are probably happy with my decision and are thinking, Good, now Daryl will be able to get a good job with a good company. While initially this might be true, it needs to be understood that after I get enough experience and knowledge under my belt I will be looking to start MY OWN business. Why should I settle and be content with making SOMEBODY else rich? The difference between successful individuals like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs is that they all had DREAMS and werent afraid to pursue them. Although a six figure income is good, why not aim for seven. I mean really, whats the worse that can happen? Peace and God bless.
