Urban Lifestyles, Workspace - Entertainment and the need to break free! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8 am to 7 pm – home – shuttling to office and back home - and by the time you are back, you don’t want to walk, talk, run, exercise or do anything that strains the mind or body. Yup it’s the urban cum city lifestyle reminding you that you need to relax – to unwind and break free – to give some much needed freshness to your daily 9 to 5 routine. But how is one supposed to break free when nobody around seems to have the time for anything but their jobs and personal routines? You don’t have the time, your neighbours don’t have the time, their neighbours don’t have the time and your cousins are settled all over the country if not the globe. Most of the times you meet it’s just the usual Hello with a quick glance almost saying – “please let me go, I got a lot of things to do”. It may be a different matter that you have some free time and are basically avoiding the thought of Social interaction - dreading the very thought of getting stuck up in a social function wherein you would be surrounded by 4 aunties, 2 grandfathers, 8 children and a whole lot of noise. After all its time management and prioritisation – Golden cardinal principles to be followed as many a boss would have told you. The need to break free Your body is one of the finest marvels in the world – the best mankind can serve its own with after 2000 years and millennia of evolution. As the body demands rest – the mind needs some fresh inputs to avoid getting stuck in a classical 9 to 5 rut. You may start feeling lethargic, dull, irritable and highly conscious of the fact that you are getting boxed into a corner. At times you are so engrossed in the need to conform at office that everything else takes a sidestep although deep inside your body is struggling to take a break – you don’t realise it and you work hard – really hard, seeking to perform/outperform and eventually it happens – you snap/don’t snap yet hold a grudge within, and the clock begins to tick tolling all the stress and anxieties into one big ball and therein lies the key. Every once in a while you should say what the heck and kick the ball onto the other quadrant for a much deserved break, fun and enjoyment. It’s the “need” to break free and the better ways in which you articulate it – the healthier you shall be, the better you shall perform and best of all you shall have an aura of “feeling good” about you Go ahead – CHOOSE to feel good about yourself. After all – you deserve the best! Harsh Ahuja, Gurgaon. India harshahuja@ahujabusinessservices ; ahujabusinessservices
