Last week, in a hastily orchestrated maneuver, the House of Representatives narrowly passed the Farm Bill by a vote of 216-208, including the dangerous and overreaching King Amendment, which undermines state laws regarding farm animal confinement, foie gras sales, horse slaughter, puppy mills, and shark finning. It might also affect a range of other concerns, including food safety, child labor, and the environment.
