Urgent Notice re: Roots Markets (Md) Gluten & Wheat! I could not believe this until I read it myself. Roots has changed their labeling on their bakeshop products and this is serious for those w/ Celiac, Wheat Allergy or Gluten Sensitivity! Apparently they have issues with cross contamination/cross contact and no longer are labeling their products as “gluten free” but will still label them “wheat free” which would be a severe risk to someone with a wheat allergy or celiac. If they will no longer label or guarantee that it is GF (free of wheat, rye & barley) how can they label it to be Wheat Free? Click the link to see their synopsis of the GF Ruling that took effect on 8/5/14 and then at the bottom they have their big disclaimer…. they use shared equipment and make no guarantees that product is not contaminated with wheat; so how in good conscience can it be labeled “Wheat Free”?
