Usain Bolt: Manchester United debut still possible Usain Bolt believes Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement has made making his Manchester United debut more difficult Usain Bolt has expressed sadness at the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson but still retains hope of making his Manchester United debut. The Olympic sprint legend said Ferguson stepping down from his post at Old Trafford after 26 years made for a “stressful day”. The Jamaican is a famous Manchester United fan and was invited to Old Trafford to show off the three gold medals he won the London 2012 Olympic games. Ferguson had even suggested in the past that Manchester United could try and get Bolt on the pitch for them in a charity match, though this failed to materialise. The chances seem to have lessened now Bolt’s “good friend” Ferguson has taken the decision to step down from the post. However, Bolt is not about to give up his dream of turning out for the Red Devils, though he did admit it would be more difficult now that David Moyes has taken the reins – all with a cheeky smile across his face. “I must say it was a stressful day for me, it was pretty hard to hear that Sir Alex Ferguson was going to retire,” said Bolt. “He was a great manager and he did extremely well for Manchester United, leading us to many titles. “Me and Alex are friends, so I think that now there is a new manager it’s going to be just that little bit harder to make the team, but I think I have enough quality.” Usain Bolt is known for having a good sense of humour and his good friend Sir Alex Ferguson would likely have enjoyed this joke.
