Using the Boston Marathon bombing as justification, all venues are now required to subject fans to hand-held metal detection sweeps or walk-through magnetometers, a result of the Department of Homeland Security’s encroaching relationship with professional sports leagues. 1. I wasnt aware the Boston bombing happened at a baseball game. 2. Why dont they just ban people from bringing pressure cookers into crowded sports stadiums? 3. Although Americans are victimized daily by acts of terrorism—defined as evil armed criminals terrorizing innocent, unarmed civilians—but usually, their blue/black costumes and flashing lights atop their easily identifiable vehicles is sufficient warning to avoid and deter incident. Not sure how these DHS measures at sporting events are even relevant to the type of terrorism we are experiencing here in the US.
