VACANCY: Safety, Health and Environment Officer - ANGOLA Position: Safety, Health and Environment Officer, Angolan nationality is a fundamental requirement. Permanent position Yes accommodation provided as stated in spec Goals of the position: To foster a safe and healthy work environment to protect workers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace environment and company assets. Qualifications • Degree or diploma qualification with a recognized institute • Portuguese and English required • Relevant Experience: at least 2 years in a similar environment or related. • In-house training can be considered Expected qualities Someone who can foster some the following initiatives: • continuously identification of hazards and assessing risks arising from work • making decisions about ways to eliminate or minimize those risks • making decisions about the adequacy of facilities for the welfare of workers • proposing changes that may affect the health or safety of workers • ability to develop and document policies and procedures with clarity • making decisions about the procedures for resolving health or safety issues and ability to demonstrate the urgency • monitoring the health of workers or workplace conditions, information and training or consultation with workers. Functions: • Guaranteeing employee moral by protecting their lives and health • Ensuring legal compliance – labour and environmental issues • Implementation of company and group policies • Continuous improvement to ensure that company assets are well protected against any current and potential risks that can cause physical losses • Responsible for the Group Risk & Insurance Audits • Liaising with related parties with regards to placing and renewal of insurance policies • Responsible for ordering and distribution of all different types of protective clothing and tools used at the working place • Recording and monthly reporting of man-hours, injuries and incidences to the group • Reporting and processing claims with the works compensation government offices • Reduce employee injury and illness related costs, including medical care, sick leave and disability benefit costs • Managing of the fire control and prevention system by ensuring that equipment is in good working condition and perform the fire drills and alarm testing • Ensure continuous training for the different health and safety representatives and forklift drivers • Responsible for the general housekeeping – general cleaning, gardens, canteen, etc. • Site control - ensuring that access control and CCTV systems are working well – into and within the plant • Managing the outsourced security crew and holding monthly meetings • Working together with HR and the company clinic to ensure adequate onsite medical support. Estimated Package: - Salary Range: USD 3,500 – 4,700 - Medical Aid for the employee (% of contribution to be advised) - One free meal per day - Communications: USD 50/month - Fuel: 100 Lt/month
