VAT Dispute Resolution HMRC are increasingly suggesting to taxpayers who do not agree with a decision to use the VAT Dispute Resolution Service instead of lodging a formal appeal. While this may on the face of it have benefits, the major problem for advisers is that, despite 648 being in place, HMRC will insist in many occasions on communicating with the tax-payer only. The process is still in its infancy and a lot needs to be done to ensure the scheme is fair, transparent and available at minimal cost. SOURCE: Alan Rashleigh & Associates Ltd
