VEC Planned Power Outage Friday, Oct. 17 11:59 p.m. until 2 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18--About 9,000 Volunteer Energy Cooperative Customers in Cumberland County will lose power briefly from 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 17 until about 2 a.m. on Saturday, October 18. Areas that will be affected by the two-hour outage include most of southern Cumberland County including the Crab Orchard, Grassy Cove, Lake Tansi, Midway, Highway 101, and Highway 127 south, communities. VEC crews will be installing a remote 69 kV switch on the transmission line that serves the Crab Orchard and Lantana substations. The switch will speed up power restorations. VEC apologizes for any inconveniences the outage may cause.
