VERMONT passed the nations first no-strings-attached GMO labeling bill last week. Vermonts representatives listened to the people. NEW YORK needs Assemblymember Michaelle Solages to listen to New Yorkers. WE WANT GMO LABELING. Do your part today for NY GMO Labeling Bill A3525B: Consumer Affairs and Protection Committee Assemblymember, Michaelle Solages, is still undecided on A3525B. We need ALL NEW YORKERS to send an e-mail & call her in support. If you live in her district, be sure to let her know you are a constituent. Please be polite, but firm, in your communications. This Committee Member is still assessing her position and can be moved by positive and encouraging messages. Committee Member Contact: Michaelle Solages Email: [email protected] Phone: 516-599-2972 Sample Letter (drafting a letter in your own words will make a bigger impact!): Dear Assemblymember Solages: I am writing to ask for your support for Bill A3525B (Rosenthal) to require genetically engineered foods to be labeled here in New York State. Vermont passed GMO labeling last week. Maine and Connecticut have already passed GMO labeling bills and CT lawmakers have urged NY to do the same to trigger CTs law. In addition, over 20 other States are moving forward with GMO labeling efforts. New York should be leading, not following or taking no action at all. Every national and New York State poll has shown that 90%+ of consumers support GMO labeling. This bill does not limit the use of GMOs in any way. It simply requires companies that use GMOs in their food products to clearly label those products. As a New Yorker, I believe that I have a right to know what is in my food. At a minimum, we believe this bill deserves to be passed out of Committee to allow the full Assembly to take an up or down vote. I would appreciate your support of A3525B when it comes up for a vote in the Consumer Affairs and Protection Committee. Sincerely, (your name and address) ########### Assembly Member Solages District: 22nd district on Long Island - including the towns of Valley Stream (North and South), Elmont, North Woodmere, Floral l Park, Bellerose Terrace, Stewart Manor and parts of Franklin Square.
