VGIF staff and interns are busy attending meetings at the UN in order to bring our grantees’ voices to discussion on the issues that impact them most. Just last week, one of our UN interns, Meryl Roux, reported on a high-level discussion on the necessity of global partnerships to ensure stable and peaceful societies. Meryl shared an important statement from Larry Attree, the Head of Policy at Safer World: “In order to achieve peace, we need fair access to justice and education, low levels of corruption and bribery, less violence, and mostly, we need to empower our women.” Women’s self-empowerment is something that VGIF grantees strive for, so we’re happy to hear that it’s being discussed in important UN meetings. We thank Meryl, and also Abi Scholz, whose new blog post is up on the VGIF UN blog here: vgif.org/blog/
