VICE CHANCELLOR UET LAHORE DETERMINED TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO THE FACULTY Prof. Dr. Fazal A. Khalid Vice Chancellor, University of Engineering & Technology Lahore while addressing the participants of the Workshop said, “We are determined to quality higher education and to enhance the capabilities of newly inducted faculty members by equipping them all necessary professional trainings”. He further said that the prime function of the universities is to create knowledge and this value addition can only be done through innovation, skills and commitment. He also emphasized on conducting research as the key role of the university teachers. He also focused on providing all the required facilities to young faculty to be more productive in teaching as well as research. He acknowledged the efforts of QEC in this regards and appreciated all resource persons for their valuable contribution. UET Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) organized a one week training workshop for newly inducted faculty members of various campuses and departments of the University. Prof. Dr. Noor M. Sheikh Former Dean, Prof. Dr. A. R. Saleemi Member Technical Board, Environmental Tribunal & former Dean, Prof. Dr. Hameed Ullah Mughal Chairman Mechanical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Ali Sajid Founder & Former Director of IBM, Brig. (R) Waqar Hussain were the guest speakers. Prof. Dr. Ghulam Abbas Anjum, Director QEC formally welcomed all the guest speakers, resource persons and participants of the training workshop. He also explained the objectives of holding the workshop. The following aspects were covered during the entire week: Importance of Professional Development, Teaching as a Profession, Lecture Planning, Microteaching, Assessment and Evaluation, How to Prepare a Research Proposal, Scientific Writing, Where to apply for Research Funding, Motivational Aspects of Academics, Leadership Paradigm Shift, Power of Positivity and Faith, UET Administrative & Academic Bodies.
