VICTORY IN LORD JESUS TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 15:50-58 Brothers and sisters in Christ, the happenings around the world throw fear and trembling into all. What about the terrorists plotting against us and the selfish and thieving, power-hungry politicians pocketing all our common resources. . As we recently celebrated the anniversary of the September 11, we think of the ISIS planning evil against other nations of the world. The rising world crimes, the multiple natural disasters, the disappearing and crashing of planes in the air throw us into fear. Satan seemed to be victorious in the Garden of Eden and at the cross of Jesus. But God fought the beast and won and Christ the Lord is risen! This is the power that gives life to the elect and this is the power the true Christian walks in. The resurrection of Jesus Christ from death and the grave is a demonstration of power. All the forces of this world’s political and religious machines, empowered by the demonic forces of the underworld came against God’s Son at Calvary and He let them have their day. But God turned Satan’s apparent victory into defeat when He came forth in glorious power and defeated them once and forever with one blow by His resurrection. Christ overcame death and one day we will also. The day Christ rose from the grave He arose with a mighty triumph over His foes, He arose a Victor from the dark domain and He lives forever with His saints to reign. Beloved, God has not changed or grown weaker. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. It is we who have succumbed to the lure of the world and allowed the “world” to go into the church rather than allow the “church” to go into the world. Apostle Paul declared that with a grateful Spirit, God has given us victory through Christ Jesus our Lord and we are victors because Jesus has won the battle already. Praise the Lord.
