VICTORY OVER SIN HILLSIDE HELPS- Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Ps 119:11). In our world today there is an ongoing effort to “re-define” sin. This is clear to those who have eyes to see. What once was known as evil is now called good. What used to be sin has now been diluted to only a mistake. This is an ever increasing wave that is sweeping all across our world. To look at a rattlesnake and call it a rabbit is a deceptive lie. When we look at sin and call it anything but sin, we are deceiving ourselves and others, and may avoid some external momentary pressures, but one day we will have to answer to Holy God. Sin is defined in the Word of God, not according to the opinion of man. Sin is any transgression of God’s law as revealed in Bible, God’s holy Word. The Word reveals the holiness and purity of God. He has set the standard of holiness. As we read, study, learn, memorize, and apply the Word of God into our life, we then with the help of the Holy Spirit can identify sin and, with Gods help avoid it. We will not be perfect, but we will sin less. Which one of us would not want to “sin less”? Hide the Word of God into your heart and life consistently day by day. Over time, your mind will be renewed. The evidence of this will be the change your attitude and actions. The Spirit will help you dodge the sin traps satan has set in your path. He will also give you deliverance in the hour of temptation. This victory over sin comes because of the truth hidden in the heart. The living Word Jesus takes the written Word and through the Holy Spirit applies the Word in every situation. This does not make us perfect, but it helps us to be pure and victorious over sin.
