VIDEO Captures HORROR As GUNMAN Opens FIRE at SWEET 16 Birthday Party In FLORIDA(2 Teens KILLED) RIVIERA BEACH -- New video just released to CBS12 captures the fatal shooting at a Sweet 16 birthday party inside Rivieras Newcomb Hall. A videographer who was hired to take video at the party captured the horror when gunfire broke out inside Newcomb Hall the night of September 1, 2012. It shouldve been a fun event but it turned into chaos. Richard Ryles, the attorney for 2 shooting victims says, They were allowed to get into the party with Glock handguns because they werent being patted down or frisked. The shooting killed 2 and wounded 6 others. A very tragic event happened. I mean it was very brazen and they pulled out their guns and just started shooting, attorney Richard Ryles said. CBS12 showed the video which has never been seen publicly until now to a member of the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Commission. State Rep. Dave Kerner says its heartbreaking. Kerner says unfortunately, theres a growing willingness among some teens to settle their disputes with guns. I think its becoming exponentially more prevalent over the years, Kerner said. Today it seems like the escalation of violence goes so quickly. He says were seeing a rise in youth violence because guns are more plentiful and teens feel more emboldened to make threats nowadays because of social media where they can say things and make threats on Facebook or Twitter that they might not have said in the past. Kerner says he feels the state should provide more funds for DCF to help children in dysfunctional homes..to make sure theyre well cared for and learn how to behave. One person, 22-year-old Rijkard Jean Baptiste of Lake Park is awaiting trial for first degree murder. The state is not seeking the death penalty.
