VIDEO: Many people across WMass spot rainbow CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – If you saw a rainbow in the sky Saturday evening you weren’t alone. The time of day along with showers that were moving through created perfect conditions for viewing a rainbow. A rainbow appears when light reflects and refracts off of water droplets in the atmosphere. Rainbows frequently appear when there are raindrops in the air and the sunlight is shining at a low angle. That’s exactly what occurred Saturday evening. Here at 22News we were able to spot the rainbow on five different skycams at the same time. Many viewers have sent us pictures of the rainbow as well.
