VIETNAM: ABOUT TO DIE - FOR DOG MEAT Not everyone eats dog or cat meat in Vietnam. There are a GROWING NUMBER OF ANIMAL LOVERS IN VIETNAM who hate the pet-meat trade and want it ended, who we invite to join our Vietnamese march, which is part of our global march for dogs and cats in the meat trade, 10am, April 4th, 2015. The dog in the photograph can see the hammer coming down on his head but is helpless to save himself because he’s trapped in the heavy iron neck callipers which are held by the young Vietnamese dog butcher, working in one of Vietnam’s many dog slaughterhouses. It is not known how many slaughterhouses are scattered throughout Vietnam, but it would be a very high number. Many dog restaurants kill dogs on the spot as customers order meals, making them a slaughterhouse too, right through to High House, Vietnam’s largest dog slaughterhouse which supplies much of Hanoi’s dog meat.
