VILLAGE THINGS: The life in the village is so serene and so simple that I want to opt for it and walk away from this madness in the city seriously how I wished. Very simple things that make folks feel so happy and relaxed. Their food and vegetables all come from their farms fresh, clean, no artificial manure but completely biodegradable. Their bistros so cheap any food can be cooked for you in a jiffy right there and then. Being a vegetarian my mushrooms are delivered every morning wow! This is the life in heaven folks have been talking about. The mushrooms make the wild imported ones that I have to struggle to buy at Shoprite to taste like garlic soaked in chutney. Bu what is amazing really is how much football has taken over the world and Messi mania has engulfed the universe. On the penultimate Saturday before the final match between Germany and Argentina there was a big bet on who would win and Argentina came tops because of Messi and Barca. The town crier who happened to be the housekeeper and caretaker came out with his gong asking folks to come out and place their bets my goodness these folks that you think have nothing were betting with N20k the least amount being N200. The caretaker has refused to take salaries but prefers to be receiving honorarium because to him folks would send him out on errands and give him perks and being a burial rite this time he is really raking it in. When I asked him why he does not want to take a salary he said it takes too long that he has three wives and nine children he cannot afford not to feed them every day. Out of curiosity I asked him how much he has to feed them with every day. He said one thousand Naira can cook a pot of soup that would last for three days because they plant their veggies and yams. Wow! What he gets on tips about two thousand on a good day. So he prefers that to N20k a month that would take thirty days to come and the fact that he does it as a favor oga is inclined to give him more. Hmmm! Simple logic methinhk. Seriously if Jesus and Mohammed were to come today and compete with the footballer called Messi he would beat them both hands down. I now know and belief PHCN knows exactly what they are doing, immediately Germany scored everyone went god punish NEPA because the light went sore losers Argentines supporters are. From one corner of the Bistro/football watching center that we went because we just wanted to have a feel of the village and fraternize with folks. Come and see village babes with guys that trousers are almost falling off their bums’ lol! Fight started, people throwing beer bottles and chairs flying because Argentina lost. My goodness so this is how football hooliganism has spread across the globe? The last I saw a fight like that was in 2007 when Drogba scored that hat trick against Man U when Wembley stadium was opened again after a long while. None of these people know Messi nor would they ever see Messi but here they are fighting, neutering and maiming each other because Argentina lost and Messi is upset. Na wa o! Hmmm! All in all I like the simple life, no noise, no madness but pure tranquility. What I enjoy most is seeing people go past to their various farms and greeting all they see in the morning. If they see you ten times you get greeted ten times. No light, no water folks are happy and content. With moment of openness, seconds of willingness, mind full of joy and readiness to serve. Relocation to the village on my mind. Lol! Pure heavenly..............
