VINCENT MALAMBO JOINS CASE AGAINST SATA AND HIS FRIENDS WHO OWE DBZ HUGE SUMS OF MONEY Prominent Lusaka lawyer Vincent Malambo has applied to be joined to the matter in which President Michael Sata has denied defending his friends, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito, Post Newspaper owner Fred M’membe and Nchima Nchito who owe the Development Bank of Zambia K14 billion which according to Judge Nigel Mutuna was obtained by fraudulent misrepresentation. Mr Malambo, a former legal affairs minister under the Fredrick Chiluba era, successfully represented DBZ and won the case against the trio and Zambian Airways in the High Court in the recovery of K14 billion loan was eventually removed as the lawyer of the bank after he refused to withdraw the matter from court. Three weeks ago, President Sata in his evidence in-chief claimed that Mr Malambo could have been dismissed because of incompetence. But now, Mr Malambo has said President Sata’s statement was injurious and has applied that he joins the case in which the Head of State has sued Daily Nation proprietor Richard Sakala and academician Choolwe Beyani. The matter comes up on June 24, 2014 and President Sata is expected to be in the dock for cross examination.
