VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK We here at SSC have followed in Ore, Fear & Worry for the wonderful work and unbridled dedication of the Virunga Rangers over the last few years of Crisis at Virunga National Park..but our respect & support has stepped up more than just a gear.. On Sunday we attended the Cambridge Picture House to see Virunga: The Movie ... at times with heavy heart as the crisis unfolded before us that we have seen here on regular updates during the 2012 crisis,we knew what was to follow.. but this time we felt we were there, watching, waiting as 35 brave Rangers led by Emmanuel de Merode stood vigil to protect the park waiting for the troubles to ebb, knowing should the heavily armed & numbers of the rebel forces strike at their door in reality they stood little to no chance of defending themselves.. Listening to the words of Andre Bauma his sheer dedication and love for the orphan gorillas in his charge, changing from his blues of the orphanage to his uniform baring his rifle whilst standing guard within the orphange..Warden Rodrigue., bravely going undercover putting himself at grave risk..he would die to save the life of just one Gorilla..he readies himself every morning knowing it could be his last..and standing before and along side the brave rangers Emmanuel de Merode, dedicated, unshakable, uncorruptable .. seen as the wall that lays between the survival of Virunga National Park..& SOCO int and the M23 Rebels, whether directly or in-directly connected... The under cover footage gained by a very brave young lady indeed Melanie Gouby & the dedicated Rodrigue lay bare the dangers faced by those protecting Virunga the last bastion of the precious Mountain Gorillas... Virunga the Movie will be available on Netflix from the 7th November but we cannot urge supporters enough if the possibility arises to go & see the movie., tell your friends, family, work colleagues ..spread the word..far & Wide.. Sept 19th 2013 Ranger Rodrigue was arrested, beaten & tortured & held for 17 days without charge..for doing his job!..protecting Virunga National Park.. forestpeoples.org/fr/node/4750 April 15th 2014 Chief Warden Emmanuel de Merode was ambushed on his return from Goma, he was shot in the stomach and legs by 4 bullets..rendering him critical but stable in hospital..on May 24th 2014 Emmanuel returned to his post at Virunga National Park.. bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-27049627 PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR BOTH THE RANGERS OF & VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK Look up Virunga: The Movie for the truth laid bare @ https://facebook/virungamovie?fref=ts & Netflix from 07/11 All photos by Virunga National Park to see many more photos and many touching stories behind them and wonderful orphan Gorillas that will touch hearts visit their fb page & bloggs.. https://facebook/virunga
