VISION OF ANGEL vision war I was stationed in Iraq in 2008/2009. After having some very sobering experiances in the field over this time, I began to seriously worry about if my coworkers and myself would return home ok. We would spend our occasional down time in bunkers to keep out of the Sun and heat and my friend had made an observation about were we were in the world and the fact that we spent our time reading the bible. Becuase of my concern for safetey I contacted my father and asked him about weather or not I had been baptised and was suprised to find that I was not, contrary to his strict faith. He explained that the fact that I was interested and questioning the importance was Gods way of showing me a sign. I intended to see a local Chaplian on Base, but the busy schedule never seemed to allow the time. One night, as I sat on the bed of my HET System alone in the middle of the night. Nearing the end of the deployment I was becoming depressed, missing my family, unsure if I would ever go home again, and asked myself how did you get yourself into this mess? At the same moment I looked to the sky and in a clear break in the cloud cover I witnessed the shape of a winged man above the clouds as if he was watching down. This figure was back light from behind so I could not make out facial features but there was clear body definition on the arms, chest, and hair, and wings. I only looked for a moment and was startled by what I saw, not looking back a second time. I dont remember making a deal of it at the time and before now only spoke of this once with a psychologist not sure if it was just a stressful reaction. I like to believe that I was given a sign to hang in there, that there is more coming. I have not changed my life much but do believe that there is a higher power. Doug
