VITAMINS FOR THE MIND by Ron Reynolds #3387 (Thursday, September 26, 2013) The Three ‘Don’ts’ So many things come in ‘three’s, and today I have three things to share with you that you surely don’t want to engage in as you go about building your life and your business, whether it’s your AdvoCare business or any other business. First, don’t allow yourself to engage in personality conflicts. If you ever allow yourself to become so absorbed by what other people do or don’t do, by what others think or don’t think, or what others say or don’t say, you’re allowing the roots of human discontent to grow and to spread; in fact, the moment that you become upset at the words or actions of someone else, those thoughts are going to take root and spread throughout your mind, and those emotions of discontent will spread like a fire in a dry forest, and you’ll become one of those angry and suspicious-of-others kind of people who are their own worst enemy. I’ve watched countless people who were on their way toward debt freedom, financial security and human happiness who get so absorbed by personality conflicts that they think they’re making progress, but their mindset becomes such that they’re putting the brakes on the very kind of progress they worked so long and so hard to create. People will always do dumb things, but if you let what ‘they’ do determine how you feel, you will have started a journey that’s going to erode all the good you may have created. Second, don’t try to build anything of substance based solely upon ‘how’ to do it. Progress in life and in business is determined by ‘why’ you’re doing what you’re doing, not by ‘how’ to do it. If your motives are right, if your attitude is right, and if your goals and your vision of the future are clear, then the doors to continued progress will be opened for you. What are your goals today, and specifically – what is your purpose for building your AdvoCare business? Do you really know, or is it ‘just to make some money? Are the reasons you’re doing what you’re doing written in your journal – and on that subject, do you even have a journal that you write in every day? With enough strong reasons – written out in detail – you have the capacity to do the most incredible things, but if you’re always looking for the ‘how-to’ then you’re not going to like the end result from all of your well-intended efforts. Third - never, never, never make the assumption that what you now are is all that you need to be. The process of personal development is one that’s never fully complete. We all have to understand and accept that we simply do not attract what we want or what we need, what we ultimately attract is in direct proportion to what we are, and by what we are becoming as a result of the quality of the thought-seeds that have found their way into our mind. We cannot have the ‘wrong motives’ or the undefined motives running through our mental circuitry and expect to do better in life; we may have little spurts of good results, but in the end it’s what we are that brings us the results that we seek. Read more, believe more, trust more, learn more, and try harder each time you set out to do something and the results you seek will come your way – not in ‘your’ time, but in ‘due’ time, and according to how well you’ve worked on yourself. Life and it’s quality is determined by doing the things we should be doing and by not doing the things we shouldn’t be doing; that takes self-discipline, it takes self-responsibility and it takes self-accountability for how your life turns out; success is not about ‘them’ it’s about you and what you do and think every day, and if you don’t like how life is going for you, look into a full-length mirror.
