*VME is fortunate to be one of the few private schools in Erie to offer an instrumental music program. *4th grade is the first year that students are eligible to join band. *ANY student who desires to learn to play a music instrument is welcome to join band. *Numerous scientific studies have found that students who learn and play music do better in school and in life. *Instruments taught are flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion. *The bands learn and play a variety of music from classical masterpieces to today’s hits, from Christmas favorites to popular film music. *Band students have the opportunity to participate in the “infamous” band movies. *Students meet twice a week for group lessons, once after school (2:45-3:45) and once during school (2:00-2:40). *The monthly fee for lessons is $55.
