VO The 65th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China marks in Vientiane INTRO: Chinese Ambassador to Laos Guan Huabing hosted a reception dinner to mark the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China in Vientiane Capital on 1 October. STORY: The event was attended by Vice President Bounnhang Vorachit, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Lao-China Cooperation Committee, Somsavat Lengsavad, Deputy Prime Minister, Bounpon Bouttanavong, diplomats and relevant officials. According to Chinese Ambassador to Laos Guan Huabing, Since the founding of the Peoples Republic of China 65 years ago, especially since the implementation of reform and opening-up policy, under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, people of all nationalities in China forged ahead along the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and has made remarkable achievements. He said, China achieved economic and social leap-forward development, realized the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure, developed all kinds of social undertakings comprehensively and peoples lives have been improved significantly, China has become the worlds second largest economy, the largest trading partners of more than 120 countries and regions, contributing 30 per cent of the world economic growth, playing more and more important role in promoting the pace, stability and development of the world. China and Lao PDR has enjoyed fruitful achievements of trade and economic relations. In 2013, the bilateral trade volume reached USD 2.73 billion. In the first six months of this year, the number reached USD 2.3 billion with an increase of 142 per cent. As of the end of 2013, Chinas non-financial direct investment amounts to USD 2.73 billion, and added another USD 510 million in the first half of this year. China has become the largest investment source country and second largest trading partner of the Lao PDR. The two countries carried out effective cooperation in the field of defense, public, education, culture and technology, cooperated closely in the international arena, played an active role for maintaining international and regional peace and stability. It is said that, for long time, intersection between the two peoples has always been sincere and honest, trying to help each other. After the earthquake in Ludian,Yunnan Province this August, President Choummaly and Premier Thongsing together telegraphed President Xi Jinping and Premier Le Keqiang at the first place to express condolences. Lao and China Friendship Committee orgainsed fund raising activities though out the country. Lao Party and country leaders, people from all walks of life and social organizations generously donated and extended sincere helping hands. This is the vivid portrayal of deep friendship between the two people.
