VOICE OF LIBERTY DEVOTIONAL BY: Victory Jazrel Joseph DATE: Friday, October 17, 2014 TOPIC: Manage your time (PART III) OPENING SCRIPTURE: John 9:4 - I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work. MAIN TEXT: In Matthew 11:29, Jesus instructed us to LEARN OF HIM. This means, study me: My motives, actions and how I handle things. When we learn of Him, we will come to know that He was an excellent time manager. In Luke 2:41-50, the mother of twelve year old Jesus declared Him missing after three days that Hed not been seen among relatives on their way from the feast at Jerusalem. To their amazement, Jesus was found with teachers of the law unfazed by worries expressed by His mother. He said to them why are you looking for me? Do you not know that I must be about my Fathers business? (Luke 2:49). Though He was only twelve years old, He understood that every minute of His earthly life counted to the ultimate success of His assignment. The earlier he started, the better. He also understood that the value of time is not in its passage but its usage. Imagine two friends; one goes to medical school and the other stays at home. After five years, one is rewarded with a medical degree and the other is gets nothing. The degree wasnt earned because five years passed by but that he learned something with it. More important than how much time we spend working is what we spend the time doing. According to Paretos rule, only 20% of what we do produce 80% of the results we get. We can achieve 80% more result by simply making a productive use of 20% of our work-day time. There are 8 work-day-hours daily according to labour laws in many countries. 20% of 8 hours is 1 hour 36 minutes. Pareto is saying in essence, if you devote 1 hour 36 minutes daily to anything, you can achieve 80% of the result that someone working full time on that venture will achieve. Have you always dreamed of owning your own business but dont know how to get around it because you are working or studying full-time? All you need to invest in it is 1 hour 36 minutes daily and it doesnt matter if its between 6am to 6pm or the other half. Become an intra-preneur: establish your business while working or studying full time and in less than 5 years, you will have a good reason to quit your job to face your dreams. Its all about time management and every minute counts. Learn of Jesus on this and in a few years, you will say IT IS FINISHED! PRAYER: Dear God, help me to wake up from the areas Ive been asleep and give me light. Help me to walk circumspectly in wisdom and to redeem my time in this evil days in Jesus name (Ephesians 5:14-16).
