(VOV) – A Government inspection delegation led by General Inspector Huynh PhongTranh paid a working visit to Singapore from September 3-6 aiming to share anti-corruption experience and seek closer coordination in this field. During the four-day visit made under a cooperation agreement signed in 2010 between the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam and Singapore’s Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), the Vietnamese delegation learnt experiences in corruption investigation and the building of codes of conduct and professional ethics to limit conflicts of interest in public service activities. They also examined ways to step up communications aiming to raise public awareness about anti-corruption in Singapore. Tranh commended Singapore’s valuable and typical anti-corruption experiences, noting the prevention and fight against corruption is being promoted in Vietnam and the country will consider how best to apply Singapore’s experiences in line with Vietnam’s conditions and circumstances. Inspector General expressed confidence the Vietnam-Singapore strategic partnership will grow and flourish in the time to come for a peaceful and prosperous ASEAN with sustainable development. CPIB Director Wong Hong Kuan, in turn, said the 2010 cooperation agreement with the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam was the first and only one that CPIB has signed with a foreign agency to date. He also appreciated the achievements of the joint activities under the cooperation agreement framework. The CPIB is an anti-corruption agency directly accountable to the Prime Minister of Singapore. According to a survey on CPIB operations in 2013, 90% of respondents said anti-corruption activities in Singapore are better than most countries in the world; 77% agreed upon CPIB effective operations in controlling corruption cases at a low rate.
