(VOV) – Ho Chi Minh City always attaches great importance to strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between Vietnam and China. Duong Quan Ha, Chairman of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association‘s HCM City chapter, made the statement at a ceremony in the city on September 26 to mark China’s 65th National Day (October 1). Ha highlighted the city’s role in strengthening Vietnam-China ties, by having worked closely with the Chinese Consulate General and business community in the city in carrying out cultural exchanges, humanitarian drives, and poverty reduction programmes. Chinese Consul General Chai Wenrui reviewed fruitful Vietnam-China ties in a wide range of fields, saying Vietnam is currently China’s fifth largest trade partner in ASEAN, with last year’s trade turnover hitting more than US$65 billion. Since the beginning of this year, bilateral trade has reached over US$43 billion, he stated. Reality shows that strengthening the Sino-Vietnamese friendship helps boost mutually beneficial cooperation, meeting the expectations and basic interests of both peoples for peace, stability and development in the region, he said. He voiced the Chinese Consulate General’s determination to realise the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between the two countries, in order to beef up their time-honoured friendship for future generations.
