Valerie! Oh, but your poem! LOVE it! It was a night in Chicago, downtown, by the lake; A young couple was wandering, hungry, for steak; There was a sign, on the door, but the name was unclear, They almost passed it by, but instead, they drew near; They descended the stairs, and to their surprise, It was no longer daylight, it looked midnight inside! They continued to tread, down the dimly lit halls, and stumbled upon wine bottles, lining the walls! Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrahs, Merlots, the list, it went on. But my favorite, who knew, theyd have L de Lyeth! With a glass in my hand, I sat down in our booth. Without any doubt, the space, it was tight, I was also worried that my hair would ignite. A lovely waiter approached us, and welcomed us in. He was perfectly poised with a permanent grin, “Have you dined here before? No? You’re in for a treat,” He then slipped away on soft, quiet feet. Upon his return, I couldn’t believe, Fresh, warm bread, and hot melted cheese? It didn’t stop there, oh no, it went on; Chicken, beef, lobster tail, giant prawn. And the sauces, you see, They each taste unique. Who knew they’d all taste so delicious with meat? Then last, but not least, our dessert soon arrived; The chocolate, the dipping, it was delicious to try. And so, there we sat, among the candles and flames, Learning to pronounce this restaurants name. Geja’s Café –it’s been 49 years, You’ve served laughter and happiness and goodhearted cheer, There’s nowhere you’ll find A fully stocked bar, Chocolate fondue and a flamenco guitar I’ll be back many times, bringing along my dear friends, Geja’s Chicago, goodbye Until then.
