Valerie asks How did some of you handle having another child while having one already on the spectrum? What were some challenges you faced when baby arrived (and months after the arrival?) Did your ASD child act out and how did you handle it? My 4 year old recently became a big brother to a little brother and though he seems to be very interested in him and curious, hes being extremely disobedient now. Anything we ask him to do hell do the opposite. (Be quiet, Hell scream on purpose etc) he does have some difficulty comprehending alot but the things we are asking of him he does know and choosing to willfully disobey. I hate that his behavior is resulting in him possibly feeling like all we ever do is get after him. (It all breaks my heart and makes me depressed and have anxiety.) Also, what did some of you do on teaching boundaries on what he can and/or cant do around the baby? Hes struggling with thing he shouldnt do, Like trying to poke his head or eye etc. (he hasnt succeeded yet cause Ive stopped him everytime he tries) I know this will all take time and an great deal of patience. But want advice and suggestions from others ASD parents with multiple children. Thanks!
