Valerie is successfully messaging me through FB but is experiencing problems accessing her email account, so there are no new photos yet. The children will have had their first day of classes today and Valerie will be teaching them later this week. Last week she helped to prepare the library ready for the new term and made a trip to the village of Litowa with Peter and Angela. It is raining a lot and there are lots of Mosquitoes around. Valerie has also met up with Mosess mother and Moses has been examined again. It appears that he has not had polio but instead was born with missing bones in his legs, so he would not benefit from an operation. Valerie will look into other ways of improving his mobility. Any rehabilitation will probably take place in Dar es Salaam which has more to offer than the hospital in Songea. Valerie has been doing some research into different ways of approaching the new kitchen garden we hope to establish later this year. The idea is that the children will be involved in setting up and looking after the garden, which will also have chickens and that it will explore some of the techniques of permaculture and organic farming. Valerie has met up with Method and Joseph and a charity working at a project called HOJA and they are looking at various imaginative possibilities like creating keyhole gardens which are explained in this video: https://youtube/watch?v=ykCXfjzfaco
