Vandalark Patricks With the frequent rumor circulating that President Sirleaf is dead, let me state here clearly that as a human being and a true son of Africa who respects womanhood and the dignity of mankind, I do not pray for the death of our President or any other Liberian. As a person, I want to live in a country like Liberia where I can have the opportunity to sit and interact with former Presidents of Liberia. The only former President we had is currently in jail. In so doing, I pray that God protects and restore good health on our President in the midst of these rumors that she is dead. The rumor is spreading like wide fire and its too bad for our country. Though, I am a consistent critic of the Government headed by President Sirleaf but I think such a rumor is not good to be appreciated as the sense of humility in the faces of many persons and those that I have talked to on facebook who have given me this rumor is not seen at all!!!. I just receive this same rumor again about the death of the President from two friends in Australia and the United States of America. I simply reminded them that it was this same rumor Liberians heard before that Vice President Boakai was dead few months ago which later begin a lie. Though we do not have power over death but I pray that our mother and President regain her health and return to Liberia safely. Few months ago in South Africa, when the rumor about the death of Nelson Mandela spread, the citizens began praying for their former President. Religious leaders organized prayer services on his behalf and he regained his strength. But here in Liberia, it is a different ball-game; no sympathy and its troubling! Where is the Liberia Council of Churches, Inter-Religious Council of Liberia and several other groupings that claimed to be the protectors of the peace in Liberia? I expected to have heard by now the organization of a national prayer service by the above mentioned groups on behalf of the President in order for her to recover soon in the midst of these rumors! Are they only there to sing praises for cash and materials? When it comes to sickness, I think we should not put politics into it but to develop a true sense of humility for one another. Liberians, its not about politics now but humanity and let us pray for Madam Sirleaf to recover soon. To our cabinet ministers, I want you to please see reason to advice the President to honorably resign when she recover this time because she is old now. This is an honest appeal and it has no political undertone. She has played her part and whether we who are considered her critics like it or not, she will still be remembered for some of her good works and her bad works as well. We need an ex- president fellow cabinet ministers! Stop overusing our President as a shield to deplete state coffers!!!
