Various thoughts ran through my mind last week as I watched about 500 intense and mordantly sincere Icelanders parade through the streest of the capitol in solidarity with the citizens of Gaza against the evils of the Israelis. As they walked along they exhibited a combination of scorn and horror and utter befuddlement that a country might actually retaliate when provoked. I couldnt help but wonder at their naivete, but was happy for them that they were so placed in the worlds geographical and political sphere as NOT to have neighbors who harbored animosity and ill-will towards them. It must be nice to live in such a place, something the Israeli people can only wish for. I grieve at the loss of innocent life on both sides, but am quick to point out that nothing was sent into Gaza by the Israelis until provoked, and that provocation continues to this day.
