Varsity Football semifinals decided The semifinals of the inaugural Varsity Football challenge will both be contested in Pretoria next Monday after the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and the University of Pretoria (UP-Tuks) finished in the top two spots on the log after round robin action. TUT showed their class in their match against Wits, sweeping the Joburg side away for a 3-0 victory which maintained their unbeaten record. They will take on the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), who along with TUT is still unbeaten in the competition. The side from Port Elizabeth drew 1-1 with UFS on Monday night. Tuks claimed top spot by scoring a late goal in their 1-0 victory over NWU-Mafikeng on Monday. These sides will once again face off in next week’s semifinal, with the North West side sure to eye revenge. The Cape Town derby between UWC and UCT ended in a 1-1 draw.
