Vauxhall Holiday Park (VHP) Great Yarmouth Wifelet and I - TopicsExpress

Vauxhall Holiday Park (VHP) Great Yarmouth Wifelet and I visited here march 6th-9th March 2014 for Legends of Rock music festival, but this is just the review of the park. VHP is easy enough to get to if you are driving but we went on the train as we prefer that mode of transport. The line from Norwich passes by the VHP and first thoughts are that its a pleasant stroll down the road to VHP. Indeed it isnt far from the station but when you have 3 bags and a portable fridge/cool box it isnt. Upon reflection we should have got a taxi. Right next door to the rail station is an Asda which is just the ticket because the onsite shop has a limited choice of stock and isnt good value. My advice would be if arriving by train go to Asda, stock up and then get a taxi to VHP. Fare is approx £3.50-£4.00. The VHP itself has a variety of static caravans and pitches for tourers but we plumped for the Waverney Suite a maisonette type dwelling. 2 bedrooms, a double and a twin, bathroom with wc, basin, bath and over shower. Decent sized living space with tv and open plan kitchenette, not massive but you have a fridge, electric cooker, microwave, toaster and kettle. All crockery and cutlery are provided. (Bed linen, pillows and duvets were provided.) In the Waverney everything is powered by electricity, we were given £10 worth of meter tokens on arrival for 4 days and these would have sufficed for normal power usage but the electric radiators do use up quite a bit of credit. VHP has two entertainment lounges with bars but sadly no pub style bar where sport etc could be shown. Several eateries are on site, pizza, kebabs, fish n chips, burgers and the Reedcutters restaurant, we only had a kebab once and chips n curry sauce twice as we stocked up at Asda. VHP has a swimming pool and many other leisure facilities but we didny have time to use these as we were busy rocking so we cant pass fair comment. VHP is a short cab ride (£5) into town or a good 30 minute leisurly walk but I was surprised to find it is not served by the local buses, they pass by but there is no stop outside the park. Overall I think we would go back if we could share with other ppl to cut costs.
