Vehicle Incident in New Zealand on Monday Description Engineers are checking a Fiji Airways plane that had to make an emergency landing at Auckland Airport this morning. Flight FJ430, which was on its way to Suva, was forced to turn back after there was a fire in the right hand engine during take-off. As a safety measure the aircraft, carrying 122 passengers and six crew, returned to Auckland without incident. Emergency services were on standby at the airport. The aircraft will now undergo extensive inspections by engineering staff to ensure it can be safely released back into service. All passengers will now be put on other flights from Auckland. The Fire Service was called to the airport just after 8:30am. Shift manager Paul Radden says the service received a call to say one engine of the Fiji Airways plane was out due to a fire in that engine. He says over a dozen fire appliances responded. "Including specialist appliances such as foam tenders and hose layers. Upon arrival the aircraft approached and it landed safely." Mr Radden says fire crews followed the aircraft to the gate and are standing by while engineers check the engine and passengers are safely off-loaded.
