Venus in Sagittarius: A student asked today about the dual nature of Sagittarius and how to reconcile that with the one-pointedness of belief and the fure element in general. Ponder this answer in light of the fact that Venus is now in Sag and opposed by Jupiter, and will be for the next few months. My Response: Sagittarius is tricky in his dual nature. But if you look at him you see a half-man half animal split. Actually there is cause to believe that Sag is really meant to be a man on a horse, but either way, the Centaur actally also works. Sag is where we realize that the evolution of the animal to a man, and the man to a God. The sign exists with a foot in all 3 worlds. Emerging from the primal, animal fears of Scorpio, and armed with the sharp point of truth, the Sagittarius walks the tightrope of truth / belief - the man aspiring to become God and trying not to get pulled down into the animal nature. The sometimes rigid beliefs are analagous to the tightrope itself.. narrow, thin, pointing the way to the goal, but fraught with peril. One mis step (sensually or philisophically) and the whole thing comes crashing down.. Ponder that metaphor.
