Vernon Jay Morris Williams Liberty University BIBL 110 05 SEPT 2014 INTERPRETATION PROJECT 1 The main focus and point of Matthew 24:42-44 is that we serve a God that has not revealed unto us all things. Even though we see in John 15:15 where it says: Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you, if you look closely it says “all things I have heard from the Father”. This is a clear indication that there are some things that could not be revealed to us because Jesus (Yahshua) was not told by God (Yahweh). Verse 42 starts off with the word Watch, which many would say means to be on the look out but I believe that this word refers to the way that we conduct ourselves. The reason why I believe this is because one might assume that you could keep a look out after doing wrong your whole life and when you see the master coming, you could straighten up. When we look even closer we see that this is far from the truth because, in verse 44b it says, “the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect”. This also gives us the indication that if this is not a lifestyle for us, we will be caught off guard. There is a reason why in verse 42b it says, “If the master of the house had known. Selah Verses 32-35 simply state that even though we see certain things coming to fruition that are written in the word of God (Yahweh), we are still oblivious and without a time of when the Father shall return. Listen, verse 32b says: “When its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near” but you notice it does not say that summer has arrived. Selah Verses 45-51 simply state that, Although we have been given the authority over our own houses, it is wise for us to be found doing that which our father has left us to do, which is to rule wisely and according to his commandments. We must be good stewards over that which he has given us rulership over or that which we have will surely be taken away from us. “One can’t live on the left side of the fence and expect to eat the food prepared for those on the right side” Vernon J Williams The write is trying to tell us through all three stories, that Christianity is a way of life and not just a way of words. Those who choose the way of words and fail to follow in deed shall be cut off from their inheritance. The similarities in all three stories, is the word (unexpected.) Story one 32-35 says: No One Knows the Day or Hour Story two 38-44 says: Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Story three 45-51 says: the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of There is only one thing that one can do to prevent being caught off guard and that is to simply live a righteous life. Many are caught off guard because they live a life filled with words and not deeds. These are the people that the bible refers to as hears and not doers. There is a reason why we have no clue as to when the Father will return as many would life a (false righteous) life. This simply means that they would put on a front as if they are Holy when he (God) returns. The truth of the matter is this: Even then, they still by no means will enter into heaven. Selah
