Very, VERY interesting, especially considering that the US has a population much bigger than that of Japan. Also fascinating that while digital sales in Japan declined a bit in 2012, physical sales (CDs and vinyl) actually increased 6% in the same year. The other day, I went to Tower Records in the afternoon to buy the new Soul Flower Union CD for my wife... had to wait in line for a while due to all the high-school kids who just got out of school, buying CDs. High school kids buying music--imagine that!
