Very early this morning Ive already seen three posts about this story: styleweekly/richmond/food-truck-fee-will-subsidize-redskins/Content?oid=2083228 Fine. Good, even. If people want to sell food to the thousands of people who will be at the camp then they should pay. $2,500 is a small amount compared to the potential earnings - if it seems unfair you dont understand business. Business is risk; thats why its hard. Nobody is being forced to go to training camp. Ive also seen complaints about the national chain restaurants like Papa Johns and Famous Daves being able to get in the space/afford it - again, I say Fine and Good Even. For all of you sitting high atop Mt. Pious I ask: where do you think the people working those vendors come from? They arent shipped in from Minnesota. They live in Richmond. That is local business - franchises are local businesses, despite that not playing in to your xenophobic narrative. For the people saying it shouldnt there at all - why? Because you dont like it? Get over yourself. The city cant do anything that is 100% popular, but people like sports and people love the Redskins. As someone who lived/lives right next to the camp there were plenty of taxpayers who were overjoyed to be there. Im not the biggest fan since it makes it way harder to get home, but its not like it was dropped there overnight. At least this venture has the potential to make money, unlike all the alternatives Ive seen suggested from the peanut gallery.
