Very impressed by the adaptation of NORMAL HEART. Very few plays - TopicsExpress

Very impressed by the adaptation of NORMAL HEART. Very few plays have adapted as well to the screen. And it retained most of its power. (I saw the original production at the Public and the Broadway revival, and both times I felt as if Id been connected to a high voltage battery.) There was a trade-off in the film. Some of the jolt of being an immediate witness was traded for visual elegance and some purely visual passages of great power. I know how my friends will received it. (I know how some of my friends have received it.) But this will be seen by some folks outside the obvious audience, and I wonder what impact it will have in communities not inclined toward sympathy. Havent heard of any reactionary reactions to the film yet.
