Very interesting article about hot fusion. Fusion reactors, as opposed to present day nuclear (fission) reactors, work by fusing together atoms which releases a lot of energy. Contrary to fission nuclear reactors there is no radioactive materials. I was aware of the ITER nuclear reactor prototype in Europe, but Lockheed Martin recently announced that they will have a compact prototype within 5 years and a product within 10 years. It cannot be overemphasized what this would mean for humanity. No more coal and fossil fuels to generate electricity ... which would also make electric cars truly effective (i.e., right now even if you switch to an electric car, it still has a carbon footprint because electricity is highly generated by coal burning or other fossil fuels or nuclear reactors). universetoday/115411/fusion-energy-always-50-years-away-now-just-5-according-to-lockheed-martin/ lockheedmartin/us/products/compact-fusion.html
