Very interesting mini doc on the sound quality (or lack there of) in modern music. youtu.be/mDZcz-V29_M When I 1st started selling my label digitally, I wanted to reverse the pricing tier, making hi-quality WAVs the cheapest to buy, and 128 mp3s $5 or more each. I wanted to encourage people to buy the best, truest, duplication of each song. To date, this is still impossible, as every major music stores infrastructure is pre-programmed to charge the highest price for the largest size format. There is no way to change the pricing. 10 years ago date storage was a legitimate issue, but now you can fit a Terabyte or more onto a tiny USB stick. This film unfortunately doesnt offer any ideas for a solution to the problem. Changing the price model for digital music could be a very good start at educating people to understand about sound quality. In almost every other aspect of life, you pay a higher price for convenience. You want your packaged shipped overnight - extra shipping costs. You want your dinner delivered - it cost more. You wanna buy tickets online - instead of at the theater - processing fee. I always hear people say I dont wanna wait 5 minutes to download a song, I want to listen to it right now! Well in my opinion, that should cost 3 times as much, and the quality should (as it is) be less. You should be able to pay less for a high quality WAV file, if you have to wait a little longer to receive it to your laptop. Thats just one argument, so feel free to share this video, and continue the discussion.
