At the moment in Ireland we have certain dog breeds restricted and require to be muzzled in public (american pit bull terrier, english bull terrier, staffordshire bull terrier, bull mastiff, dobermann pinscher, german shepherd (Alsatian), rhodesian ridgeback, rottweiler, japanese akita, japanese tosa, & bandog). They are talking at the moment of imposing more restrictions on these and added many more breeds to the list. We need your help in spreading our petition and facebook page as we are trying to get the government to change legislation on this to provide owners of these breeds the chance (through testing or training) to be able to have their dog in public without a muzzle. It will also allow these dogs to do what they do best, and be therapy dogs and do loads of different jobs and be our companions without discrimination. The government will amend this law should we be able to get enough signatures on this petition, which is why we are trying to get support from all corners of the world to unite and help these breeds. Hope you can help, as without your help this will be impossible. We are trying to have our breeds treated with the respect and dignity they deserve and not to be discriminated against due to irresponsible ownership. The muzzle serves only to reinforce the negative stereotype relating to these breeds and we want is the chance to show the government what these dogs can do.
